Richard Curtis’s About Time – When Tim Lake (Domhnall Gleeson) is 21, his father (Bill Nighy) tells him a secret: The men in their family can travel through time.

Although he can’t change history, Tim resolves to improve his life by getting a girlfriend. He meets Mary (Rachel McAdams), falls in love and finally wins her heart via time-travel and a little cunning.

However, as his unusual life progresses, Tim finds that his special ability can’t shield him and those he loves from the problems of ordinary life.

A Little Extra: Richard Curtis’s London to Cornwall – Crafting Tim’s World

In About Time, writer-director Richard Curtis brings his trademark warmth, wit, and heartfelt storytelling to a beautiful blend of London’s vibrant city life and Cornwall’s tranquil coast. Known for classics like Love Actually and Notting Hill, Curtis uses familiar settings to create a story that feels intimate yet universal.

The London scenes capture the everyday life of Tim and Mary in the vibrant neighborhoods around Notting Hill, portraying a warm, lived-in atmosphere full of character. Curtis’s eye for charming details and relatable moments makes these urban settings feel like a true home for the characters.

In Cornwall, the story moves to a stunning coastal home and picturesque beaches, evoking a sense of escapism and family warmth. The wedding scenes take place in a charming village church, completing the idyllic rural backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the London cityscape.
