Business-Friendly Bahrain: Small Nation, Big Opportunity
This project took me to the Kingdom of Bahrain—a compact but ambitious nation positioning itself as a major player in the Gulf’s business landscape.
Directed by Toby Macdonald and produced by Partizan Films for EDB Bahrain, this campaign set out to capture the energy, openness, and opportunity of a country ready to do business with the world.
A Strategic Gateway
Bahrain is uniquely positioned at the heart of the Gulf, offering direct access to major regional markets, 100% foreign ownership, zero personal tax, and a progressive regulatory environment. It’s a serious contender for international businesses looking to expand into the Middle East.
The Brief
The aim was to showcase Bahrain as a forward-thinking, business-friendly destination—where modern infrastructure meets cultural heritage. From high-rise finance hubs and glass-fronted tech campuses to bustling souqs and serene coastal spots, Bahrain offers a visual range that made it a dream to film.
Over several intense weeks on the ground helping bring eight distinct commercials to life—each one capturing a different side of Bahrain.. The heat was stifling, with daily temps well into the 40s°C, but the team powered through with typical Bahraini hospitality keeping spirits high.
About the Director
Toby Macdonald brought a sharp eye and human touch to the campaign. Known for both commercials and scripted work (including Old Boys and episodes of Extraordinary), he’s skilled at blending cinematic visuals with intimate storytelling—a perfect fit for a project that aimed to feel both aspirational and authentic.
It was a fast-paced, rewarding shoot that captured Bahrain’s momentum as a destination not just to visit, but to build in.
