Working with Tom Kuntz & MJZ London on eBay – Zombie Apocalypse for eBay

I enjoyed working with acclaimed director Tom Kuntz (best known for Old Spice’s “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like”) and MJZ London on eBay’s Zombie Apocalypse TVC. Shot across London, this clever spot uses a viral premise—zombies overtaking suburban streets—to playfully remind viewers there’s “always something you can’t buy in a crisis,” highlighting eBay’s value and variety.

Kuntz’s signature blend of surreal, absurd humour shines through—his commercials, as described by analysts, “subvert expectations and make the ad memorable and timeless”.

The spot faithfully followed storyboards by John Colebourn, who noted that Kuntz’s work “stayed pretty true to the original boards,” illustrating his seamless, character-driven storytelling in a comedic, post-apocalyptic setting.

Final Thoughts

Shooting Zombie Apocalypse across UK locations gave the campaign its punchy, cinematic feel. Tom Kuntz’s knack for turning unexpected premises into engaging, humorous storytelling made this ad a standout—and one I’m proud to have helped bring to life.
