Our Creative Collaboration on MobLand
Working on MobLand brought its own unique creative energy. I had the pleasure of collaborating with production designer Andrew Purcell, whose vision shaped the aesthetic backbone of the show—an immersive fusion of gritty realism and stylised crime-drama flair.
On set, I worked alongside a stellar roster of directors, each bringing their own distinctive voice:
- Guy Ritchie, whose kinetic visual style and sharp editorial rhythm set the tone for key episodes;
- Anthony Byrne and Danny Syrkin, known for their gripping character-focused drama; and
- Laurence Gough, who helped weave together the atmospheric tension intrinsic to the series
MobLand has been a standout success for Paramount+, breaking records with 8.8 million global viewers in its first week—the platform’s biggest launch to date. The blend of powerful storytelling, location-rich visuals, and strong performances (led by Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren) created a cinematic experience with real depth.
Together with Andrew and the directing team, I helped identify and adapt real-world locations—from industrial docks and derelict East London streets to estates in the Cotswolds—crafting environments that felt lived-in, tense, and authentic. That grounding in atmosphere was key to delivering MobLand’s signature blend of contemporary crime grit and emotional resonance.
