Wonder Woman 1984

Diana Prince lives quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s — an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she’s come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile by curating ancient artifacts, and only performing heroic acts incognito.

But soon, Diana will have to muster all of her strength, wisdom and courage as she finds herself squaring off against Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

Working with Aline Bonetto & Patty Jenkins on Wonder Woman 1984 for Warner/DC

I was honoured to support Aline Bonetto, the Oscar‑nominated production designer behind Amélie and both Wonder Woman films. Aline crafted expansive, tactile environments—many of which were recreated right here in the UK, including Washington DC streets and interiors. Spain and Fuerteventura stood in for Egypt, while Tenerife became the breathtaking island of Themyscira for the opening Amazon “Olympics” sequence.

Working with director Patty Jenkins was equally inspiring, embracing practical effects and authentic stunts—often using Cirque du Soleil performers and wire-work to bring the action to life on location. Although Wonder Woman 1984 is a period film, recreating the 1980s proved uniquely challenging—unlike Victorian or Art Deco settings, ’80s architecture and design often feel more modern and less distinctive, making it harder to find and dress locations authentically without anachronisms.

Final Thoughts

Partnering on Wonder Woman 1984 meant blending cinematic scale, historical authenticity, and heart. Aline’s world-building and Patty’s bold vision made this sequel a visually rich, emotionally driven chapter in the DC saga—and one that I was proud to help bring to life across these diverse and stunning locations.
